Cindy Harmelink What makes Cindy's counseling unique is her ability to find ways to help the client discover and make connections with emotional pain and/or current life stressors -- and creatively use specific action to move the client to a healthier, more meaningful and joy filled place.

Skills
Cindy combines excellent clinical skills, in both assessment and treatment, with genuine compassion. As a skilled counselor, Cindy provides strategies to help clients incorporate hope, playfulness and humor into unpleasant situations. The distinctive style of Cindy's counseling is her ability to identify problems, and help the client move towards goals -- with specific action -- to better health.

Physicians and other helping professionals often consult Cindy. She uses the expertise of those professionals to gather information to help the client. Cindy combines her education and ability to identify and treat complex problems with interventions that are:
-- Goal directed and solution focused.

Education
Cindy earned a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University, Riverside, California. She completed a 1200 hour internship at Loma Linda University Medical School/Children’s Hospital Family and Child Therapy Program. At this day treatment program Cindy received supervised training treating children, couples, and families. Interventions included: severe neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, witness to or experience violent crime or other trauma. Treatments also included working with families with specific interventions for trauma, dissociative disorders, obsessive/compulsive disorders, ADD/ADHD, blended families, and school or social impairment.

Cindy received her New Hampshire License as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, LCMHC, in 1999. She continues to receive education through collaborative review and accredited conferences.

Personal
Cindy and her husband are natives of Southern California and have been married since 1988. They relocated to New Hampshire in 1995. Cindy and her husband continue to experience the Joy of their daughter born in August of 1999.
